The magic camp was founded by honest to goodness magicians. One of the more fun things magicians get to do is work at trade shows representing companies and otherwise using entertainment skills to hawk goods. An even MORE rewarding experience is when the magician can go on the school circuit and teach schools life skills to children.
Imagine the best of both worlds. Kent, our founder, go to do that, many years ago, by representing a regional glasses manufacturing outlets called TSO (Texas State Optical) in elementary schools. He taught the kids about eye care and eye health, and part of the act he developed as “Mr. See-it” is still in his act today!
Speaking of which (not a smooth segue, I’ll grant you), if you’re like most Americans you wear contact lenses. It turns out that if you order them from 1-800-CONTACTS they’ll arrange for 4% of your purchase to go to the Magic Camp.
Keep in mind that you are helping a child go to The Kent Cummins Magic Camp and get a life changing experience by doing nothing but buying your eye contacts at NO additional charge to you. All you have top do is click here and make the purchase. Four percent of your total purchase price goes to the scholarship fund! It’s that easy, REALLY!!!!
If you buy things from eBay, you can earn money for Magic Camp. Quite a bit in fact! Twenty-five percent of what you pay for on eBay will go to Magic Camp if you install a GoodSearch plugin into your web browser toolbar.
To install the toolbar, click here and choose the option to install the toolbar. Make sure the tool bar installed has the Magic Camp icon. If it does, you’re good to go!
From then on, all you have to do is click the eBay icon in the tool bar, and make those eBay bids! Any eBay win is a win for Magic Camp, too. eBay will donate 25% of what you spent to The Kent Cummins Magic Camp.
Pretty Cool!!
Magic Camp is looking for a bar code scanner. There are a lot of inexpensive CCD laser scanner guns out there and we have a few of them, but we’re looking for the USB scanner guns with laser readers in them. They would be used for inventory and time tracking, both of counselors, staff and campers. We also have a huge need to keep track of volunteer hours and the scanners would go a long way in helping with that.
If you are involved with a retail store, that store may have some lying around that they don’t use or need. Perhaps you can help those poor unused scanners fine a friendly home!
Just leave a comment here or send a message to donate@magiccamp.com if you think you can help.
If you are looking for a way to support magic camp, you may be interested in donating items to camp, either by acquiring them on our behalf, of maybe some of your “junk” may be useful to Magic Camp. Donations of juggling supplies, computers, printers, puppets, and more can almost certainly be of benefit to the camp. Listed under the “Wish List” Category are some items we are planning (or hoping) to acquire over the next few months. If you have an “in” with the manufacturers or resellers, or you’ve been trying to get rid of your own stuff, please drop us a line at donate@magiccamp.com, or just leave a comment on the blog comments.
We aren’t picky on specs, although we could use as much hard drive space as possible for our camp photo gallery. Any portable machin made by Apple with an Intel chip would work. This includes, MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
We ned this primarily for web development and media, including photo and video projects.
Plus, some of us here just prefer Macs
