In March of 1993, the Magic Camp, owned by magician Kent Cummins, opened its doors to a handful of very excited young campers. The camp was run by Kent (director), Peter Hinrichs (assistant director) and Mary Lou, Kent’s mom (puppet instructor and “Grandmother in Residence”). Over the years, the camp has been hosted at numerous locations, from its original home in the old Westgate shopping mall, to schools, churches, a restaurant, and at another camp.
The camp has had two name changes. At one point, it became the Kent Cummins Magic Camp and finally it became Fantastic Magic Camp, when it was sold to Aaron Parker-Fasel (ex-counselor and staff member), Austin Witt (ex camper, counselor and staff member), and Bertil Fredstrom (Magic Camp for Grownups camper and staff member).
Over the years we have added many exciting features to our camp, but the greatest has been the creation of our Youth Leader Training Academy. This has provided us with an incredibly well trained and dedicated group of counselors and staff members, all of whom were once campers themselves.
In 2012, the camp moved to Highland Mall.
As of April 2015, Highland Mall Closed and Magic Camp is now in it’s current location.
